Launched in 2015 as an industry-wide initiative Register My Appliance by AMDEA is a safety initiative to ensure appliance-owners were contactable in the event of a recall.
Register My Appliance portal is optimised for both mobile and desktop, it is easy to register, and you can find out any information about your appliance with a few quick taps.
With around 60 major brands available, you can register almost all the main appliances you have in your homes. They do not even need to be new; you can register items that are up to 12 years old. With an estimated 170 million large appliances in use in UK homes, many up and down the country have not been registered but doing so makes your home that little bit safer.
Even ones bought second hand, inherited, or just overlooked can still be recorded. Two thirds (67%) of people have never registered an older appliance whether bought a couple of years before, that they found in their home when they moved in or were given by family or friends or bought second hand, according to research commissioned by AMDEA in 2018.
Over this past year, you have probably spent more time in your home than ever before, relying on your trusty appliances. By registering you can have peace of mind knowing that:
- You will never miss out on recalls, in a small number of cases, manufactures may identify problems with an appliance once the product has been in use for some time. They will then need to contact you to get the fault corrected as quickly as possible. Normally a quick in-home fix by a qualified engineer will banish any risk.
- Registering your appliance could save you money by entitling you to an extended warranty or guarantee period.
