Registering your appliance might not be the first thing you think of when moving house or upgrading products in your home. However, with brands from AEG to Zanussi, you can register almost all the main appliances you have which will offer you added safety benefits and potentially save you money.

Who is AMDEA?

AMDEA are the Association of Manufacturers of Domestic Appliances and represent over 80% of the appliance industry and their members are all manufacturers, importers of household appliances and include most of the UK’s top selling brands of major white goods.  They are ‘Go To’ organisation for all Domestic Appliance matters. Promoting awareness of how consumers’ lives can be improved through the use of the latest technology and a trusted source of information and opinion on all aspects of their sector.

What is covered?

It isn’t just new appliances that you can register, the initiative covers items that are up to 12 years old. So, if it was a housewarming gift, bought second hand or a freecycled appliance these can all be registered online.

Why register?

With an estimated 170 million large appliances in use in UK homes, many up and down the country have not been registered but doing so makes your home that little bit safer.

A quick and easy registration process offers you peace of mind that if a problem has been identified with your appliance, you will be contacted and, in most cases, a qualified technician will fix the issue in your home.

Without registering, it can be very difficult to trace customers back to their appliance, in doing so will ensure that you will be informed of any potential problems.

What you will need to register?

Head to and follow the simple instructions, it is helpful to have the information below ready to go:

  • Brand: Click a logo, to go to the manufacturer’s registration page
    You can use the search box to help you find your brand
  • Model Name: Which can be a name or number
  • Serial Number: Between 10 – 16 digits which are found on the appliance
  • Purchase Date: This doesn’t have to be precise; the approximate month and year will be fine.

As an added bonus, registering your appliance can also save you money by entitling you to an extended warranty or guarantee period.
